This small hydro power plant was built by Cesbe betweenJune 2009 and October 2010, becomingthe second plant of the CEPAR Group.
It explores the hydroelectric potential of Rio Turvo in the municipalities of Campo Novo and Braga – RS and has a nameplate capacity of 16MW.
MARCO BALDO SMALL HYDRO PROJECT TO REDUCE GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSION
The Marco BaldoSmall Hydro project to reduce greenhouse gas emission comes amidstthe concern of CESBE S.A. Engenharia e Empreendimentos, by growing in a sustainable way, through the generation of electricity from renewable energy sources, contributing to greenhouse gas emission reductions resulting from the fossil fuel thermoelectric plants, connected to the National Interconnected System (Brazilian National Grid).
The project activity consists in the implantation of a run-of-the-river, Small Hydro Power Plant, whose main objective is to increase the generation of electricity powered by renewable fuels to meet growing energy demand in Brazil. This increased demand is due to economic growth and to the displacement of electric power generation, fossil fuel (coal, natural gas and diesel) plants, connected to the National Interconnected System. Driven by renewable fuels, Marco BaldoSHP reduces emissions of greenhouse gases, contributing decisively to the reduction of gases that contribute to global warming.
